In the 19th century, wine warehouses and sheds for storing goods produced in Serpukhov were located on the site of the park. And at the end of the century (1875), a public garden was laid out here – with a pond, pavilions and gazebos.
Serpukhov Central City Park was named after Oleg Stepanov, a native of the city and a hero of the Great Patriotic War.In memory of the countryman, his bust is installed on the main alley. The park is crowded at any time of the year, there are recreation areas, sports and recreation grounds, a children's playground, and an ornamental pond.
In addition, the local registry office is located in the park. (DT Central), and on weekends you can always meet happy newlyweds in the alleys.Outdoor activities are open for children, and mass celebrations and concerts are waiting for adults.
The park especially comes alive in the summer. On warm and hot days, you can learn a few new steps in the Dancing in the Park project, do yoga and fitness. Visit delicious festivals! Next to the park there is a Music and Drama Theater and several restaurant complexes on its territory.
1. Historical atmosphere and connection of times
The park is the oldest in Serpukhov. Here you can feel the spirit of different eras: remnants of pre-revolutionary landscaping (a rectangular pond of the 19th century); memorial objects of the Soviet era (bust of Oleg Stepanov);
modern recreation areas.

outdoor stage concerts on weekends;
festivals, celebrations, and workshops (the poster can be found on the park's website);
wedding photo sessions at the Central Palace of Celebrations (former Central Cinema);
themed programs for children and adults throughout the year.
By May 1945, the park was severely damaged due to an enemy air raid and shell hits during the Great Patriotic War. After the Victory, it was restored and named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Oleg Nikolaevich Stepanov, a native of Serpukhov, who died in 1943 at the age of 19.
In 1958, a bust of Oleg Stepanov by sculptor Anatoly Pevsner was installed at the main entrance to the park from Chekhov Street. It became the central memorial site of the territory.
