About

The history of the VDNH Pavilion No. 30 dates back almost a hundred years. It was built in 1939 and rebuilt in 1954 according to a new design in the style of traditional Russian architecture. At various times, the pavilion was dedicated to ether-bearing and oilseed crops, cotton and cloth industry products, and since 1964, the microbiological industry has become the key theme of the expositions. During the perestroika period, the exposition was liquidated, but now the pavilion has reopened its doors to visitors.

The Center for Modern Biotechnologies is a unique space combining an exhibition of modern biotechnology achievements and an event area. It was created by the Federal Research Center for Biotechnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the country's leading scientific center engaged in research in the field of industrial biotechnologies.

The BIOTECH Museum presents about 20 unique installations. They talk about the possibilities of industrial application of modern biotechnologies in agriculture, genomics, food and light industry, medicine, waste recycling, and restoration of art objects.

The Biotech Museum is not a collection of artifacts, but a modern space where you can expand your knowledge of the world and understand complex technological processes. Visitors can touch new materials produced using biotechnologies (from silk to concrete); see familiar food products made from non-traditional raw materials (meat from a test tube, flour from grasshoppers, mushroom cheese); understand how the plastic decomposition process occurs in natural conditions and using biotechnological methods, and even see amazing glowing plants.

The exposition is of great importance in the field of career guidance for schoolchildren. The museum accepts applications for organized scientific and educational excursions for schoolchildren of different grades, undergraduates, postgraduates, young scientists, teachers of specialized disciplines (biology and chemistry).
