Kelin Peter Ivanovich
Pyotr Ivanovich Kelin is a Russian and Soviet painter and teacher. He became a well-known portrait painter, and also worked in the genres of landscape and household painting.

Biography
He was born into a peasant family. In 1894-1904 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture; among his teachers were A. E. Arkhipov, A.M. Korin, V. A. Serov. Since the second year of his studies, he began to earn a living by giving art lessons.
In 1903-1917, he taught classes in his own studio in Tikhvin Lane, where she prepared applicants for admission to art schools. In 1918-1922 he taught at VKhUTEMAS. Among his students are Vladimir Mayakovsky, Boris Ioganson, Dmitry Orlov and others.
He was a member of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (since 1911) and the Association of Realist Artists.
Creation
Kelin worked in line with realism, combining the traditions of the Peredvizhniki with elements of the academic school. Until 1917, his work was dominated by portraits and everyday compositions ("Refused", 1897; "At the Inn", 1901; "Self-portrait", 1908).
During the Soviet period, he continued to paint portraits (including N. I. Podvoisky, V. A. Antonov-Ovseenko, A.V. Lunacharsky, S. A. Lemeshev, V. V. Mayakovsky), as well as genre paintings and landscapes ("Openwork", 1933; "Noon", 1944).
