Новоселов Геннадий Васильевич

Gennady Vasilyevich Novoselov is a muralist, sculptor, blacksmith. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1996, a member of the International Guild of Craftsmen, the Union of Blacksmiths of Moscow since 1999. He has executed many monumental works in the urban environment, as well as in interiors.

Biography
Born on August 13, 1952 in Abakan (Krasnoyarsk Territory). His creative talents may have been inherited: his father was an artist, an honored artist of Khakassia, and his mother was engaged in sewing clothes and shoes. Since childhood, Gennady loved to draw and sculpt.
In 1971, he graduated from the Krasnoyarsk V. I. Surikov Art College. Among his teachers were V. T. Bashmakov, V. A. Serygin, V. I. Myakishev.
After graduation, he served in the army, and then began his professional career. He worked as a muralist in the Krasnoyarsk Creative and Production Association of the RSFSR Art Fund. During this period, he created wall paintings, mosaics, stained glass windows, reliefs and sculptural works, including for interiors and landscape architecture.
In 1988, he moved to the Moscow region. From 1991 to 1993, he served as the chief artist of the city of Naro-Fominsk. This stage has become very important: it was here that many iconic works appeared that made the master's name widely known.
He actively participated in exhibitions, from city and regional to national ones. He also held solo exhibitions (for example, in Naro-Fominsk in 1995).

In 1988 he moved to the Moscow region, in 1991-1993 he was the main artist of the city of Naro‑Fominsk.

Famous works and projects
Among the iconic objects:

monument "Black Tulip" in Naro‑Fominsk (dedicated to the soldiers who fell in Afghanistan);
monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (including General Yefremov, Marshal Poluboyarov, and the Kurzenkov brothers);
sculptural composition "Emelya on the stove" (became a local landmark of Naro‑Fominsk);
stained glass windows, murals and reliefs in interiors (in Krasnoyarsk and other cities);
the project of the monument in memory of the soldiers of the French army who died during the retreat from Moscow in 1812.
Novoselov's works are represented in different cities of Russia — in Krasnoyarsk, Abakan, Kansk, Naro‑Fominsk, etc.

Novoselov's work is closely connected with museums, for example, he designed a historical and ethnographic exhibition at the Naro‑Fominsk Museum of Local Lore.
